For the 2025 holiday festivities, Diptyque has imagined A Night of Wax and Gold – a magical, surreal fairy tale composed as a tribute to the fantastical spirit of the literary cafés of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Imagined by writer Victor Pouchet, illustrated by Vincent Puente and enhanced by artist Inès Mélia, the tale conjures up a bookshop, a mischievous cat and a mysterious gold-coloured pine cone with astonishing olfactory powers.
The tale has unfolded into a limited edition in which each creation becomes a poetic evocation of winter. Diptyque’s iconic Sapin (Pine Tree) fragrance plays a central role, offering Candles adorned with a precious hand-applied finish, a Diffuser made of Murano glass, an Advent Taper Candle and a variety of exceptional scented objects. The Advent Calendar is shaped like a precious book, and harbours 25 daily surprises to add extra magic to December.
Further echoes of the world created for the fairy tale appear in the decoration collection. This encompasses decorative objects and festive accessories – hand-blown glass Baubles, illustrated porcelain Trays, a Candle Holder that comes with an Oval Tray shot through with golden sparkles, a Matchbox – all transformed into allusions to the story. Plus, adding a quirky artistic touch, a selection of exclusive creations imagined by Inès Mélia: a Pine Cone Paperweight that spells out the word: “Flamme” (“Flame”), a Wax Tree Topper for the festive tree, ornaments shaped like dancing letters and a trio of ceramic objects available only in the Maisons Diptyque in Paris and London and via the website.
Infused with poetry, expertise and imagination, the collection transforms every gesture into a ritual, every object into a story, every room into a place of enchantment. An invitation to experience the coming holidays as a radiant fairy tale filled with sensory delights – courtesy of Diptyque.
